Welcome to the "Love Unexpected" Competition!

Read on and take a look to see what the Virginia x Lomography "LOVE Unexpected" Competition is all about. LOVE Unexpected is just that, it's about showcasing your Unexpected LOVE for everything around you.

On this page, you'll find all the important details related to this exciting analogue photo contest, along with the eleven stages where you will be submitting your images. With a new stage launching monthly, everyone has a chance to win some amazing prizes that include trips, cameras and online bragging rights! For every month that finishes, a highly esteemed jury of Lomographers and Loving Virginians will be sorting through the entries to pick the very best!

Rules

Please read the rules carefully, to make sure that your entries will be eligible to win those covetable prizes from Virginia and Lomography!

1. Sort through your photos and pick the best ones thoroughly and thoughtfully.
2. Film/Camera Type: any kind of film / analogue camera – standard 35mm or 120 format preferred, not digitally enhanced or manipulated.
3. Please make sure that your entries are relevant to the (sub-category) themes, and upload them to the correct sub-category! Do not upload the same pictures to multiple stages or irrelevant pictures, you will be excluded from the competition.
4. Minimum Photo Dimensions: submissions must be at least 768px in either width or height, larger dimensions are welcome.
5. No visible borders or watermarks, etc.
6. Winners shall be able to travel to Virginia at a time agreeable to both Lomography and Virginia is for Lovers.
7. Winners must have all documents necessary to travel to Virginia, including authorizations of any kind. All entrants, particularly minors, are responsible for ensuring their submission is in compliance with the legal requirements of their country.
8. Winners will be announced through a blog posting on the Lomography website shortly after the stages deadline.
9. Winners will get a message via their LomoHome which they have to reply to within 5 working days. If not, we will have to contact another winner.

1. February – LOVE surrounds: Show us the people that mean the most to you. Submissions until end of February 2012.
2. March – LOVE grows: Show us what you loved as a kid. Submissions until end of March 2012.
3. April – Spontaneity keeps LOVE alive: Show us your best candid photos! Submissions until end of April 2012.
4. May – Puppy LOVE: Show us lomographs of your pets. Submissions until end of May 2012.
5. June – LOVE at first sight: Show us the places that have captured your heart. Submissions until end of June 2012.
6. July – Electrifying LOVE: Show us your best lomographs with cool lighting. Submissions until end of July 2012.
7. August – LOVE thyself: Show us your lomographic self-portraits. Submissions until end of August 2012.
8. September – Labor of LOVE: Show us the work you love to do or the job you aspire to have. Submissions until end of September 2012.
9. October – Haunting LOVE: Show us lomographs of what spooks you the most. Submissions until end of October 2012.
10. November – Hate to LOVE: Show us your favorite guilty pleasures. Submissions until end of November 2012.
11. December – LOVE drunk: Show us how you celebrate! Submissions until end of December 2012.

Winners will be announced through a blog posting on the Lomography website a few weeks after the stages deadline.
